941 Geary’s recent show, Dominant Species, by Belgium artist ROA opened on Saturday to a waiting line. He installed a massive structure that recreated a dilapidated living space, full of garbage and rubble, symbolizing the encroachment of human habitation on nature. ROA’s signature animal figures were placed in contexts that signified the destructive impulse in humans towards animals, such as a shooting range and an anatomist’s examining table.
